Are you a former foster youth passionate about making a difference? The Defender Association of Philadelphia is hiring a Peer Advocate (hyperlinked) to join the Child Advocacy Unit (CAU) — a full-time opportunity to empower and support youth transitioning out of the foster care system.
As a Peer Advocate, you'll be part of a holistic legal team working directly with young people (ages 14–21) to ensure they receive the resources, services, and support needed for life beyond foster care. You'll play a critical role both inside the courtroom and in the community, helping to build aging-out plans that reflect each client’s unique goals and strengths.
💼 Position Highlights:
Title: Peer Advocate (Full-Time, Regular).
Location: Main Office, Philadelphia, PA.
Salary: $43,000/year.
Department: Child Advocacy Unit (CAU).

🌟 What You’ll Do:
Build meaningful relationships with youth in care.
Collaborate with attorneys and social workers to develop transition plans.
Connect clients to housing, education, health care, and employment resources.
Maintain a caseload of 15–20 youth.
Represent the Defender Association’s mission of equity and empowerment.
🧠 What We’re Looking For:
Former foster youth (aged out 2+ years ago).
At least 21 years old.
High school diploma or GED (college a plus).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Leadership qualities and a passion for community work.
Spanish-speaking a plus.
