Letter from CEO

Just over 10 years ago, a group of caring and dedicated Philadelphians came together with a powerful vision; to build an organization, a program, and a Center which will have a transformative power in the lives of thousands of young people and families across our city and region.
We set out to achieve this audacious goal with authentic community participation from every corner of the Philadelphia community. The mission was simple and not easy. Creating opportunities for a scalable number of young people to literally transform the trajectory of their lives has and will continue to be our obsession as we move forward into our second decade of operations.
The PYB trek has been made possible through the contributions of a few thousand people in our city. On behalf of our young people and families, our board and staff team members, and several dozen dedicated volunteers, we are incredibly grateful for the time, the philanthropic support, strategic input, and the enduring belief in our ability to dream big and execute well. This Annual Report, entitled “One Mission - One Vision - One Decade.” provides a snapshot of the last year of this decade. It emphasizes the many ways in which we have dramatically expanded the reach and impact of our programming now that the Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center, Powered & Operated by PYB, is fully operational.
I hope you are inspired by the contents of this report and the relentless pursuit of our work to help young people to lift up their lives in positive and powerful ways. I also hope that you will continue to support our programming, and at the same time, consider becoming involved in our soon to be announced Phase 2 Generator of Career Development & Economic Opportunity. This mission extender will help us to create career pathways for hundreds of young adults ages 18-29, who are in need of opportunities to achieve meaningful careers and economic independence.
With much gratitude,
Kenny Holdsman
