Bio:

An integral part of the PYB team, Mark L. Silow has been a fantastic addition to its board and has made a significant impact in his short time. Receiving his degree from the UPENN, a graduate degree from NYU, and a law degree from Temple University, it is needless to say that the city of Philadelphia has been a very important part of Mr. Silow’s life.

After time as President of Logan Square Neighborhood Association and Chairman-Legal & Tax Committee at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Mr. Silow is now the Chairman of Fox Rothschild LLP. As Chairman of the firm, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s operations and works closely with senior staff and the Managing Partners of each office to implement legal, administrative, and organizational strategies.

Goals for PYB:

Mr. Silow’s long term goal for PYB is the acquisition of a facility and the creation of a permanent home for PYB. As explained by Silow, “The development and production of the facility would make PYB a permanent fixture in Philadelphia.” Along with the facility, some of the short-term goals Silow has are to continue to develop and grow the after-school programs, the summer camps, and the HoopHers program.

What basketball means to you:

Silow continues to play basketball regularly and continues to use the game for both great fun and exercise, but also as a familiar social activity. Silow recalls, “the game of basketball allows you to meet so many different people, all from different walks of life; it brings people together like no other sport can.” With a lofty nickname on the court of “KD”, Mr. Silow’s sharp-shooting and creative offensive game have been repeatedly compared to NBA great Kevin Durant.

Favorite Moment at PYB:

Although there have been many favorite moments during Mr. Silow’s tenure on the PYB board, last year at April Madness, (an annual basketball tournament held at the Palestra) where he starred and won the over 40 division of PYB’s annual April Madness was at the top of the list. Silow has also enjoyed seeing great financial progress, establishing a sound financial footing, and the great success of the Game Time Gala.
