On Saturday, April 13th, 2019, athletes from throughout Greater Philadelphia filled the Palestra to play in PYB’s 4th Annual April Madness Tournament. With three championships on the line, teams competed hard. In the end, the true winners were the deserving young student-athletes that will greatly benefit from the funds raised throughout the day!
This year’s tournament featured three division: Men’s Competitive, Men’s 40 and over, and Women’s. It was clear every team came to win their respective division — multiple teams showed up before the start of the tournament, putting up shots and practicing plays.

The Rainmakers – Women’s Champion
The Men’s 40 and over Division kicked off the tournament as players demonstrated their high IQ through effortless pick and rolls into jump shots from the elbow. Team Fox Rothschild survived the storm, winning the coveted title.
The Women’s Division followed, including five competitive teams featuring a range of talented women who played at the high school and college levels. Shots were drained and And 1’s fell as The Rainmakers fought their way to the championship and secured the title.
The Men’s Competitive bracket ended the tournament. Last year’s champions Grind4Greatness looked to be favorites once again, bulldozing through their first set of games. However, it was quickly shown that this year’s tournament would be different. New team Fullcourt Properties came out on top with their synchronized play ultimately winning them the title.
The day also featured a PYB student-athlete All-Star game to celebrate the conclusion of the fourth year of PYB’s Middle School Partnership Program. Exceptional student leaders proudly donned their MSPP All-Star jerseys, showcasing the skills they developed on-court during our 20-week program.
