On Friday, December 1st, Philadelphia Youth Basketball hosted an overwhelmingly successful 1st Annual Trivia & Silent Auction Night at Archbishop John Carroll High School. From 6:30pm – 10:30pm more than 250 guests gathered in Archbishop Carroll’s Main Gym to enjoy an evening filled with fun, music, food, trivia and more. A few stellar student-athletes from our Middle School Partnership Program (MSPP) also joined us to welcome guests, participate in trivia, and speak about their experience with PYB. Thanks to our guests, event staff and volunteers, and our generous sponsors, we are proud to announce that the event raised over $30,000 to support PYB’s Middle School Partnership Program.

In addition to the incredible turnout, significant fundraising accomplishment, and the wonderful speakers, the event garnered impressive support from local vendors and in-kind donors. From the 83 auction items that were donated to seven in-kind food and drink sponsors including, Café Coco, Sabrina’s Café, Details by Dawn Catering, Dr. Jerkinstein, Marchiano’s, Conshohocken Brewing Company and Kiki Vodka, this event featured the largest number and greatest variety of outside donor support of any PYB event thus far.

Lastly, we would be remiss not to credit the incredible volunteers and staff who put in tireless hours to help plan and execute the event. In total fifteen volunteers, including Mike Egan, Kimberly Reed, Courtney Raiken, Terry O’Brien, along with numerous St. Joseph’s University students and the PYB staff team contributed to what was PYB’s largest fundraiser to date!

The mastermind behind the original event idea and lead emcee for the evening, Mike Egan, was responsible for not only organizing fun and challenging rounds of trivia, but he also captained the entire event to adhere to a tight run of show under the guidance of the event organizer, MaryKate O’Brien. Additionally, guest emcee, Kimberly Reed, brought energy and fun with her dynamic delivery of round commercials and live auctioneering throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who made year one a great success and we look forward to continuing the great work for year two!
