When asked about his involvement at PYB Greg said “I think I was a natural fit due to my experience with startups and my being a huge sports fan.” Greg specializes in mergers and acquisitions for Ballard Spahr. Among the attributes Greg brings to the table for PYB is his knowledge on the value of teamwork. In high school, Greg played basketball for Lower Moreland High School in Huntingdon Valley, PA. His senior season he was selected to be the team captain and also was the team’s leading scorer. In his professional career, teamwork has become even more important. “As a deal lawyer, the hallmarks of a deal team squarely align with PYB’s mission. We have our leader, our associates, and a relationship that allows our more experienced members to mentor the younger associates.” In addition to his deal team, Greg serves as a leader for Ballard Spahr’s Summer Internship Program, where he is responsible for assigning and mentoring several promising young professionals.
Like the hundreds of kids in PYB’s Collegiate Summer Camp Series this summer, the camp experience was a staple in Greg’s childhood. Greg spent eight fun summers at Camp Nockamixon, a sleepover camp in Kinternsville, PA. Greg has great memories from his camp days. He reminisces, “Camp was such a wonderful, loosely structured athletic environment. It enabled lasting friendships, and those are the things that leave the biggest impression.” Greg says that some of his camp friends are some of his closest friends to this today, which is something he hopes the kids at PYB’s camps are able to experience.
The importance of role models is something Greg also learned from his camp days. As Greg puts it, “Mentorship is the core of camp. Programming is second to leadership and mentorship.” Throughout all of Greg’s experiences, he knows that everything in life is not about what you are doing, but with whom you are doing it. At PYB, we are very fortunate to have someone with Greg’s work experience and core values. As a veteran member of the Board, Greg has served a critical role in getting PYB off the ground, and we look forward to the incredible guidance he will provide moving forward.
