We are delighted to be employing a cadre of terrific students, leaders, and mentors in our inaugural corporate-based and camp-based intern program. Our corporate-based interns are immersed in a variety of marketing, fundraising, and organization-building projects, and our camp-based interns have been the backbone of our Collegiate Summer Camp Series. These student-athlete coaches have been busy leading drills on the court, delivering our academic program in the classroom, and building meaningful relationships with young people throughout our city. Here is a brief description of our summer camp-based interns:
Antonio Woods is studying sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a Junior guard on the men’s basketball team. Antonio plans to pursue a basketball career, hoping to playing in the U.S. or overseas, as well as explore opportunities in coaching. Antonio has previously worked with PYB within the Middle School Partnership Program throughout the year.
Jayla Greene is majoring in Sports Management at Gwynedd Mercy University, where she is also a Sophomore point guard. She is from Philadelphia, attended Springfield Township High School, and was a part of the Philly Triple Threat program in her youth. Jayla aspires to be a college basketball coach in the future.
Twins Jamil and Jalil Pines-Elliott are both business administration majors at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, where they are also Sophomore guards on the men’s basketball team. They are from Philadelphia and attended high school at Germantown Friends School. They were also longtime members of the Philly Triple Threat program growing up. In the future, Jamil and Jalil plan to be leaders in the business community.
Greg Holdsman is an undecided major at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, but intends to study sociology and anthropology with a minor in economics. He is a Sophomore guard on the Denison men’s basketball team. Greg is from the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended Penn Charter before graduating from Central High School. He has taken on a strong leadership role in the running of our week 2 camp at La Salle University.
Ben Holl is studying business with a concentration in sports management at Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont. Ben is a Senior guard on the men’s basketball team. He is also from the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended high school at Friends Select School where he was once the leading scorer among Philadelphia independent school players. In the future, Ben hopes to pursue a career in coaching basketball.
Corporate interns Kyle Lafferty and Zack Mahler will also be helping out as needed on-site as camp coaches.
